Light machine gunners are very good at clearing rooms quickly by mowing down anyone inside. The DDay light machine gun units actually hold different types of weapons besides the light machine gun such as the Russian LMG, who uses a submachine gun, and the German LMG, who uses an assault rifle. This unit is often seen as a unit for the newbies because of it's high "spray and go" content, but DDay wouldn't be DDay, if it wasn't for the Light Machine Gun class.
The American light machine gunners used the Browning Automatic Rifle M1918. It fires ammo at a slightly slower rate than the other automatic weapons but deals more damage. A clip holds 20 bullets and the gunner carries 5 of these with him.
Additional weapons include an army knife and "pineapple" Fragmentation grenades. |
British light machine gunners carried around the Bren Mk II. This large weapon with the magazine on top can fire 30 rounds in no-time! British LMG's spawn with 5 clips to reload this weapon with.
Additional weapons include an army knife and "No69" grenades. |
The Russians were given the PPS 43 which isn't really a light machine gun but a submachine gun. These are excellent weapons for close quarter combat. This SMG comes with 5 ammo clips with 35 rounds.
Additional weapons include an army knife and "F-1" Fragmentation grenades. |
The Polish light machine gunners were handed the Chauchat, an originally French automatic weapon, which fires rounds at 300rpm. It comes with 5x20 rounds per clip.
Additional weapons include an army knife and grenades. |
The Germans created the first ever assault rifle, called the MP43 (Maschinepistol model 1943), later renamed to MP44 and again to StG44 (Sturmgewehr model 1944). The German LMG carries this gun along with 5 clips. Each clip can hold 35 bullets. It's an excellent weapon for close quarter combat and also had great accuracy over greater distances.
Additional weapons include an army knife and "potato-masher" grenades. |
The Japanese didn't really have a specific light machine gun class or heavy machine gun class so these 2 are actually the same. Both are equipped with a Type 99 Light Machine Gun, which was produced in Japan and entered service in 1939. 5 clips is what he gets which holds 30 rounds. Additional weapons include an army knife and grenades. |
