Team-specific classes
Heavy machine guns fire a large ammount of ammunition in a short period of time which makes it excellent to pin down enemies on tactical points or mowing down a large group of attackers on an open field. In DDay Normandy they are a valuable class which can decide over the outcome of a match. You should be careful when to fire: you could easily mow down your own team by accident! Note that the HMG can't be fired while standing up and that not every team has a specific HMG class.
The American heavy machine gunners were equipped with a .30 cal. This weapons is actually pretty accurate compared to other HMGs in the game. The heavy machine gunner carries 5 ammo boxes around, each holding up to 100 cartridges.
Additional weapons include an army knife and "pineapple" Fragmentation grenades. |
The HMG that the British used was the Vickers K, also known as the Vickers Gas Operated (VGO). It was originally developped for use in aircraft and has a very high rate of fire. This weapons isn't as accurate as the .30 cal or the MG42 but the light spread of the gun can sometimes prove handy. Comes with 5 drums, each with 96 cartridges.
Additional weapons include an army knife and "No69" grenades. |
The Russian heavy gunners are carrying a DPM (Degtyaryova Pakhotniy Modernised) which has a good rate of fire but with 47 rounds per magazine it runs out quickly compared to the .30 Cal of the Americans, which has 100 rounds. It is slightly compensated by giving him 7 magazines instead of 5. Additional weapons include a TT33 semi-automatic handgun, army knife and "F-1" Fragmentation grenades. |
The Polish HMGs had gotten the German MG34, which uses 75-round "double drums" to load the ammo with. This weapon is fairly accurate in comparison to others.
Additional weapons include an army knife and grenades. |
The heavy machine gun which the Germans used was the Maschinengewehr 42, or MG42 short. It fired up to 1200 rounds per minute and was nicknamed "Hitler's zipper". It has a very good accuracy in the game and is very useful to keep enemies pinned down. It uses a belt with 100 bullets, and the gunner carries 5 belts.
Additional weapons include an army knife and "potato-masher" grenades. |
The Japanese didn't really have a specific light machine gun class or heavy machine gun class so these 2 are actually the same. Both are equipped with a Type 99 Light Machine Gun, which was produced in Japan and entered service in 1939. 5 clips is what he gets which holds 30 rounds. Additional weapons include an army knife and grenades. |
