DDay Dictionary |
This is a list of words that are common in the DDay community. They can be seen on servers, on the forums and on this site. If you are not sure what they mean you can read the explanation here.
This often indicates a person who is new at the game but it can also mean a person who plays so bad as if he is new to the game. |
TK(ing) is short for TeamKill(ing). If you kill too many people of your own team, people will start to ask you to stop TK(ing). You can do multiple TKs. Someone who TKs is a TKer. |
Short for Veteran. This is a player who has been playing DDay for a very long time and is (often) a respected member of the community. You just know when you are one. |
These are 2 locations that are found on the map dday5. There are 2 entrances for the axis to get in the allied base. 1 entrance forces you to fall in a pool of water after which you need to open a door, hence why this entrance is called "Wet". The other one is simply a door that needs to be opened, this one doesn't have water anywhere near it, so that's why this one is called "Dry". If someone just says "Wet" or "Dry" this indicates that this area needs immediate attention. If someone says "Wet?" or "Dry?" it's merely a question on who is defending it. If no reply is given this also needs immediate attention as no one is defending it. |
Some maps have an underground passage, such as the map dday2. When someone says "Sewer!" you need to check it out asap. If someone asks "Sewer?" you simply need to reply if you know if anyone (enemy or ally) is down there. |
These are 2 places on the map dday4. Near the bridge is a house on which you can climb. This is a very popular spot for snipers to sit and wait for enemies. If someone says "Roof!" it indicates that someone is sitting on the roof. There also is a waterfall on this map with a secret entrance. Axis often sit here to fire on the advancing allies, but sometimes allies go up there because axis don't expect it. When someone says "Waterfall" this requires immediate attention from someone as there might be an enemy up there. |
Officers can call airstrikes. Usually, but not always, does someone yell "Incoming" or "Airstrike" when one is launched. Keep your eyes on the skies and watch out for any incoming airstrike. |
This is said at the end of a game. "gg" shows that you had a "good game" and it is said to indicate that you enjoyed the game. "bg" means "bad game" but even if you played bad you should say "gg" just to show you have enjoyed that match. "vgg" means "very good game" |
"nade" is short for "Grenade". It's faster to type so this is often used to warn others. |
When someone says "TNT" it means that an engineer has lit the fuse on his pack of TNT and/or dropped it somewhere. Run away! |
Heavy Machine Gun (class or weapon) |
Light Machine Gun (class or weapon) |
Submachine Gun (weapon) |
Short for "Bazooka" |
On dday5 there is a ventilation shaft, short "vent", behind the pillboxes inside the bunker. This leads to a valve which you need to flood an area. |
"pill(s)" is short for Pillboxes. Small bunkers in which enemies can hide and fire on you. |
Sometimes someone says "Shoulders!", while others say "Climb on my shoulders!" If someone says the first it might seem confusing for a new player. This means you need to jump on your friend's head to get to higher ground such as the upper beach on invade1 or into the vent on dday5. |

Community Info |
Himmy's server went offline, unfortunately, this time it will stay offline. Himmy rented the server and considering the small community it was time to let go.
For your information, COOLnet and dday.mine.nu are still fully functional!
