Yesterday QLPP16 was released. 3 new maps have made it in, of which 1 TDM map and 2 duel maps. All 3 maps seem to be geared towards PQL (Promode Quake Live) so fans of promode can start with these new maps. Of course you don’t need to enable PQL to enjoy these so feel free to try them out. A premium pak is usually paired with bugfixes that count for everyone. This time they have made a few webchanges and 3 maps (Aerowalk, Sinister and Warehouse) have received a little bit of bug-fixing polish. Of these 3 Sinister has the most changes: a reworked YA room, a new weapon layout and they have added ramps and stairs to some parts of the map.

A new multigaming tournament provider called ESAGamer.com has added Quake Live to it’s website after making a post on ESR. Of course people immediately requested Quake Live to be added, which the site owner has now done. The site is still preparing for it’s launch, expected somewhere in January, but it’s possible to reserve your nickname already to get you going as soon as the site goes live. Read More
As a Quaker who started with Quake 2, all I can think of is The Edge, which has made it’s annual return as Winter’s Edge. This port of the popular Quake 2 map Q2DM1 has been reworked with a layer of snow and ice, let’s not forget the giant Christmas tree in the center. What also seems to return every year is Silent Night, better known as Distant Screams throughout the rest of the year. This one is described as a fast-paced map. To wrap up the early gift there are also a few game fixes and a whole bunch of map fixes. Hop on a server and give it all a try, don’t forgot Winter’s Edge before it’s removed from the loop again. Halloween is coming close and as usual the Quake Live dev team has created a gamemode specially made for this holiday. The gametype is called Infected and is based off Red Rover. One player will spawn as the Infected Mastermind, carrying a plasmagun. The rest of the players are survivors and will only carry a shotgun and machinegun. Once fragged a survivor will respawn as an infected. These respawned infected players run faster than survivors but they only carry a gauntlet that will instagib players. How long do you think you can survive? Try it out!
5 new maps are included in the premium pak of which 3 were sent in to the Quake 3 Maverick mapping contest. CTF players will be happy to see a new map made by cityy, while duel players can start working with 2 new maps.
