The Sampler Matches have been switched from Domination on Deep Inside to Red Rover on Terminatria. Sampler matches give standard players a taste of game modes premium has to offer. In Red Rover your try to kill the other team, as usual, but with the twist that killed players join your team. A frag gains you 1 point, dying costs you a point. The person with the most points wins, making this game mode a single player team game. Read More
We’re moving our sh1t. The transfer has been started and there might be some downtime between the end of the transfer and the editing of the DNS settings. The content stays on the same server, as we are only moving the domain. Read More
A new standard mappool has been released in the rotation scheme. Maps that jump out are Terminatria and Toxicity, but CTF players will be happy to see Cold Cathode in the pool along with Ironworks and Japanese Castles! You can enjoy these maps until April 1st, who knows what we will get on that day. Read More
In the past week 2 updates have been released by Id Software. The first update features the most updates and are updates in all areas: maps, web and gamemodes. Some issues with this update pack were resolved in the second update. I’m referring to the Clan Arena idle-time change, where anyone AFK during a round gets automatically kicked.
Some updates that caught my eye were that the premium duel scoreboard now preserves match data when someone forfeits, the teamkill complaint system has returned, a bunch of PQL fixes and you can now use +moveup and +movedown on ladders to go up or down while looking in the opposite position. Yes. Ladders.

There seems to be a problem in Paris, France. Sponge just notified us via the Quake Live site news that the servers in Paris are decommissioned by their hosting partner:
The servers in Paris have been decommissioned by our hosting partner, and have been taken offline. We are in the process of moving them to a new location within their coverage area, and will update this post when they are online.
I will add a follow-up as soon as they post more, but if you want the latest news, read it here.

A few days old now, but this great Quake Live browser has received another update. QLPrism is an all-in-one Quake Live browser/client with direct links to all the QL streams, an IRC client built-in, greasemonkey scripts for a better user-experience in the Quake Live server browser and more.
One of the most notable updates is built-in support for QLM, the Quake Live Messenger. This allows anyone to chat on IRC from within the game. The QLM bot is currently sitting cosy in our #holysh1t channel on irc.quakenet.org.
It is now also possible to switch fast between accounts. This functionality is based off the Secure Login extension made by Sebastian Tschan.

What once started out as a promising streaming endeavor that focused on gaming has announced today that they will end their service by the end of the day. A few years ago Own3d.tv tried to compete in a market dominated by livestream.com, ustream.com and justin.tv, of which none had a game-oriented site until justin.tv came up with twitch.tv. This last one has proven to be a very tough competitor for Own3d.tv and since it’s launch it has become the #1 choice for some of the largest streaming communities, stealing away necessary viewers from Own3d.tv.

Now that Own3d is rumored to go down, a few things needed to be done. First, me and Lashknife sat together to try and save as many vods we could. We currently have 816 VODs on Own3d, but all VODs predating 1/1/2011 don’t load anymore due to problems at Own3d. This results in a loss of about 600 VOD’s. The remaining 200 have been safely reuploaded to Youtube. You can find them here.
The other issue was tv.holysh1t.net: we didn’t really look at it in a way we used to. Read More
