HurtMePlenty.space matchmaking for duellers
A short while ago I saw a neat new service pass by. HurtMePlenty is a service that spawns servers for you on demand. So if you were looking for a private server to duel a friend then this is the place to be. A URI will be shown on the webpage, simply clicking it will open your QL client and join the server. It’s very easy to use. At any given time 5 servers can be spawned (site-wide).
But what if you don’t have any friends? This site also conveniently does matchmaking. In true pickup style you can add yourself to a queue and when someone else within your ELO range comes along a server will be spawned to play your match. Players that have a “glicko” of +/- 300 of eachother are put together during matchmaking. If the service should become more popular this range could be reduced to have closer matches. Just like spawning servers on-demand, a URI will be shown for both players to make the whole experience as smooth and quick as possible. It’s truly an all-in-one service.
The servers that are spawned by HMP are tracked by qlstats.net, which is also where all the matchmaking magic comes from. The service is currently still in BETA: all servers are spawned in Amsterdam and the only supported gamemode is duel.
