We don’t see that many ctf movies these days. And not that it isn’t cool to watch, but sometimes it feels like duel frag highlights demand all the attention. And it saddens me :'(
Movies are fun, teasers and trailers for them make us drool at the wonderful moves and frags players out there make. Cool effects, nice music… key ingredients for a good movie. And of course, a lot of work by the maker of it. Domino is therefore proud to present his ongoing work based on community sent-in demos and has released a trailer for his frag movie called Showdown!

Once upon a time during the Quake 3 era, a fraction of the players started tricking, enjoying themselves just with doing crazy short and long jumps, combined with impressive movement skill to do very cool tricks. A whole scene even started, called DeFRaG, where the focus does not lie on fragging but on moving only and this is no different for Quake Live.
Didn’t I say I like frag movies? Yes I did! And a shiny one is seeing the light of day!
From zEvon’s hand we will find ourselves watching a very nice Quake Live movie called Europe 2010.
The trailer specifications don’t lie: capped at 300 fps, rendered at 60 fps for a whopping 30 hours using tools like Sony vegas 9 64Bit, Adobe After effects cs4, Vdub 64bit, Trapcode Plugins, Protools 8, … that promises some good stuff for the final movie.
But all this cannot happen without your help! We need you to send demos to euroquakelive@hotmail.com, just like with our own series of Moment of Fame, but with some differences:
I love fragmovies! Either they are packed with nice sequences of several players hitting incredible frags, or just a compilation with very fun moments where a flag gets returned and a cap is just made right on the buzzer.
All that with nice transitions, some good music in the background and you’re good for some “ooh!” and “haha i lol’d” or “wtf? wish I could do that” for the upcoming minutes.
Not too long ago, ZeroQL made Unagi (watch in our specials section), a very nice fragmovie consisting of Duel frags, enriched with some things from the other gametypes and some comedy about what unagi really is.
ZeroQL is now collecting frags for Unagi 2: The Return of The Power, a frag-compilation movie with user submitted demos, sort of like our own Moment of Fame series.
Everybody hates commercials! It’s a known fact that people all over the world don’t like them but still watch them on TV. Same goes for internet commercials and advertising. It’s a necessery evil to keep organizations alive. In order to support Quake Live and to get as many people playing it, there’s only 1 thing
EXTRALIFE makes it sound like a bad thing, where in the end it’s just one of the many personal preferences that make sense to you but makes no sense to the other half of the world’s population.
The question simply is: what’s your deal here?

Many people don’t just play the game, they try to modify parts to their liking or add custom content to it.
